  • DirextX 9.0b problems

I just installed DirectX 9.0b (to finally play DX2 - Invivible War) - but now when I try to load a TUT map for single or multplayer it crashes (some Direct 3d error).

Anyone else had this problem or simialr problems on 9.0b?

    Please help any tech gurus...

    cheers

well, i'm no tech guru, but i have been doing alot of research with tut on this.

What kind of graphics card do you have?

    Whats your OS?

What DirectX installation did you have prior to upgrading?

Try changing your graphics card selection. Start with unreal's default renderer and work your way up from there.

I think if you change drivers or video card you need to redo the -changevideo switch on unreal games to re-optimize. There is a link in the Start menu for starting Thievery with change video options. Worth a try.

Hi thanks for the advice guys
I am running the following machine:

        Pentium 2.4GHz (800 fsb)
        0.5G DDR RAM (3200)
        Windows XP Pro
Radeon 9800 pro (with latest Catalyst drivers)

Was running DirectX 8.1 before going to 9.0b. Both Deus Ex 2 and TUT ran fine under DirectX 8.1.

I will try the settings stufff first and repost if I have no luck.

        Cheers
