Okay, i've got an Nforce4 board, which is said to have problems with Sapphire Radeons, especially on ASUS boards (which i've got). The X1600PRO is pretty mcuh what i'm looking ofr, though. Anything else you'd suggest though? I'm not sure I want to take tha chance on a hundred and fufty bucks...

I don't know how, but it seems I missed the Sapphire brand of Radeons. My bad.

Anyway, Sapphires seem to be a little stronger than the rest, and a little less expensive as well. Makes it difficult to choose between that and one of the Geeforce series.

Ok Scorptec has stopped selling that AGP XFX 6800GS. The closest they have is a 6600 or a 7800 (~$500).

Does anyone else know of a good online shop in Australia to get video cards from? I am looking at getting the 6800GS/GT and I want to pay about $300 and something for it.

What do you guys think of this? From overclockers.co.uk:

            Sapphire X1600 Pro 512MB DDR2 AVIVO TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail (GX-120-SP)

            - 512MB-128bit 4 channel DDR2 memory - 800MHz
            - 12 Pixel shader processor
            - 5 Vertex shader processor

            - Ultra-threaded SM 3.0 Engine
            - 256-bit Ring-bus
            - ATI Avivo™ (Video-In Cables not supplied)

Available This Week Only for just £84.95 +VAT.

            Is it a good deal?
I've noticed the Nvidia cards are a lot more expensive, but they're all 256 MB (at least on overclockers.co.uk).

Is this actually a good card? It just seems suspiciously cheap.

            Thanks.

I upgraded to this from a 9200 specifically for Oblivion and it runs absolutely fine, I even bought it from that site. Even with every single detail maxed frame rates are acceptable (although I may tweak a few settings as mass combat can be a little choppy).
            Other specs:
            2400/2600 AMD (can't remember exactly)
            1GB DDR RAM
            7200 SATA HDD

I may at some point add another GB of RAM depending on requirements but I don't see myself upgrading this for, at minimum, another year - probably 2. At which point I'll consider PCI-e and I'll most definately be on a 64-bit system, I just don't see the point in upgrading to 64-bit when nothing significant will support it for some time.

What do people think of this Point of View 6800GS card? The specs are the same (I don't understand the pipes specs - couldn't find the direct comparison to XFX) .

i.e. Is PoV a good brand?
