  • Alpha Release - 2008/03/08

    New release everyone. The changelog lists what has changed, and as previously the details on obtaining the release can be found on Nightblade's Testing Page.

    Most of the changes this time around are bug fixes while work goes on in the background on other things.

    Bugs can be reported to the Nightblade Bug Tracker

        I have to applaud how quickly your banging out these fixes, you work amazingly fast at fixing the little things, of course I imagine the releases will slow down once you have a working beta on the go. I'll try this now

          Chief has the first mutator for NB too As he refers to it as "Darkwalkend Enlightenment".. I'm sure you can figure out what it does

            My feedback:

            The last release I played was 02/03/2008, this release is much much better than that one. So most of the positive points were probably added in earlier releases since then.

            * Mantling is much better, but still I'm having problems getting out of water.

            * Blackjacking works almost perfectly without problems.

            * AI seems to work more like thievery.

            * I dont know if you have done anything regarding the precaching of files prior to level load, but it actually only took 35 seconds to load for me. Much better than the 5 minute wait I had with the prior release I played.

            Still no mirrors so I can admire my sexy thief model hehe

            Overall much better.

              I read them, just didnt knew they where updated even when there wasnt a new patch out.

                  I kinda expected to see some stuff from the ut04 build. What happened to the new models (clutter, guard model wont come back i guess, mines had some iirc, the crossbow one was neat too), shields and rifles/pistols etc. The lockpicking interface. Too early? Scrapped? I liked teh gunz :<

                  Didnt notice you could bash doors, nice. Altho the result looks more like burned :p

                  Also didnt notice how damn fast guards run and how they go invisible sometimes, guess thatll iron itself out. Ragdolls and Koing dont like each others that much, plus you get "drawn" into guards alot while doing it, they should be alot more rigid.

                    Thief creep animation is missing too, it's only a slowmo run.
                    Sometimes when you crouch as a thief your upper body gets stuck in a jump animation and you walk around sort of tilted backwards.

                    The sword doesn't make proper hit sounds for most surfaces, I mean it doesn't play the sounds as often as you attack.

                    Why is there a torch flame above the alarm light I'll try and water it.

                      Remember its still just Alpha, alot of features still arent in, that also goes for some animations.

                        We KNOW that. But creeping is such a fundamentally basic aspect of the game, it should be in ASAP or should of been incorporated already. We know it will be anyway, if not soon enough.

                          so all those times you called me a "Creep" was a good thing?

                          Has the full plan of NB been laid out? Will it have any aspects of the old NB video or will it basically be a Thievery clone? Are there new objects/items/weapons planned? New movements (e.g. ledge hanging)? Combat system?

                            I thought it was overall great!

                            -Had trouble getting out of water and up ladders
                            -Guards had strange death animations
                            -Guards dont look like THIEF guards but still good.
                            -Graphics could be improved alot with the UT3 engine
                            -Ambient Sound was great

                            Looking forward to more releases
                            Reliance upon others
                            is weakness for the strong
                            but strength for the weak.

                              i cant get it to load... maybe because its an old computer.

                              it just sits there loading... for the past 10 minutes... no HD activity, but 100%cpu

                              specs:
                              p4 3ghz, 2gb ram, radeon 9550 (yes i know its old and barely runs ut3... but its what i've got here at work to test on)

                              EDIT::: Nevermind, it literally took 15 minutes to load =D
