  • Stats/Score

I dont know what kind of stats/score you all will have in NB at the end of each match. But I were thinking about having not only "Objectives" "Loot" "Total Points" but also "Aim stats in %" (Cause what I saw in the NB trailer was that you could shoot with some kind of gun) And also having NET stats (As guard) You take all the killing points you have minus how many times you've died and you get your NET points (showing something how good you've been playing that round).

Well, some suggestions of what typ of Scores you can have:

    Thieves:
    OP
    Loot
    Stealth
    KO's
    Kills
    Damage Given
    Damage Recived
Aim (maybe different stats for each gun)
    Net

    Guards:
    Loot Returned
    Torches Relit (?)
    Kills
    Damage Given
    Damage Recived
    Aim
    Net

    Already been discussed before...

It's already been decided really. Stats = no teamwork. Therefore stats = sux.

it has? I think it was More Stats=Great, Points=no teamwork, which i think was still open for discussion, but the developer said he probably wouldn't do a scoring system because some believe it goes against team work. Lets face it: 800 loot and 3 KOs vs 200 loot and 1 KO, score or not, we still know who "would" have the high score, and it will still be played that way in most cases. Simpler to not avoid the obvious IMO.

Pfff I was saying that most of the people who posted in that thread had the same opinion about it.

I'd like to suggest persistent stats. Depending on what and how good you do in the game (only online with other players, not with bots) you could earn titles like "Master thief" if you take a lot of loot, "assassin" if you kill a lot of guards with bow, "bounty hunter" if you are a guard and kill a lot of thieves and other such things.
It could be persistent if possible and it would degrade if u started doing bad for a while again, or if that's not possible it could be just kept while the match lasts (until map change).
Perhaps these titles could also be integrated in the gameplay by unlocking extra specialised equipment that fits the title. A better bow for the assassin, a sharper sword for the bounty hunter and other such things. It wouldn't have to have a BIG impact in gameplay (because it would perhaps make it unfair to "newbies") but I think the sense of reward and acomplishment alone would be great enough to justify this. The extra equipment could even only be different in appearance (uber leet looking ) if you think giving advantages like that would be bad.
Just make it be TOUGH to accomplish these
What do you guys think

First, the obligatory "OMG! 1-month old thread!"

I love titles like that, but am simply against giving away special equipment because of it. Everyone should be on equal footing eq-wise, regardless of skill or playing preference. (hunting-killing or avoiding-looting)

There's not that many new threads though...this was in the first page and near the top...
I just threw all the ideas in, I did say the equipment could just be visually different but same in effect, just as a reward. Or even not exist at all and be just the title. Or be something that doesn't give you an edge in things the other characters can do but perhaps aids you in some other way...I don't know, there's all kinds of possibilities, what do you think of the general idea

Ahh, sometimes I just skim through things. Having an uber-leet looking bow for an uber-leet sniper...I'm down with that.

Aw, lay off Alexander, Salsa. It's near the top of the 1st page. In fact, I think I'll resurect something from the bottom of the first page. After all, it's a measly 5 months old....

Titles are cool. Persistant data is a neat idea too. It'd get reset when you disconnect from the server, I'd think. If you get a top score or something in one game, maybe you'd get a gold star. After an evening, you could see who has a lot of stars, although you can't really compare them to people who just joined... hmm.

What if you get disconnected, or the server crashes?

For the data to be persistent they would need to have a master server of sorts to keep track of all the nightblade players. I understand if that is not really possible though for a number of reasons.
If the titles and stats are decided to be put in not as persistent then they would be gone as soon as you disconnected from the server for any reason (including the server crashing). Same as your regular score really, that one isn't held between maps and you lose it if you disconnect. It would propably work the same way as that. I still think it's worth to put them in like this.

I'm not going to spoil anything but you should not be disappointed by the scoring system...I'd have thought you'd all be more worried that the game itself doesn't suck though

My persistant idea is a simple one. The server just keeps track of continuously-connected players. If the player disconnects or if the server crashes, oh well, lost stats. So what. It's just temporary stats that accumulate over the last few games, something that might be more interesting than per-game stats.
