  • Breakable lamps

This is my first post, so be understanding. I've searched for similar ideas so this one shouldn't be a crib.

My idea is to make most of the lamp types breakable (at least those with glass cover) with BJ, sword or broadhead arrow. To counter this, guards should be able to fix them with repair tools (could be a problem if the lamp is placed too high ).

Tell me if you like this idea or not.

BTW: Chainsaws : could you update the link you provided in the announcement (the suggestions page)?

I like it. Should be pretty easy too with Dan's repairable class.
And if the lamp is too high...I'm sure MasterBuilder would only see it as a challenge.

Anyways, the desktop lamps are already breakable, altough light still emits from them.

I saw him once trying to build his own crate tower . That's a skill to acquire. Anyway, it would be really cool if destroyable lamps were easy to implement.

                WELL,

there is a way any object can be breakable and fixable, but it needs to be hardwired into the map. (the mapper has to put it in.) It's called THrepairableObject, and there's a thread about it in Mapping and Scripting.

Go read it. may prove helpful.

What are the chances to see this improvement in existing maps? And if it's not such a big deal, is it possibe to have it in the next release/patch?

It's already implemented in the current patch. But chances of seeing it implemented in existing maps is about nil, because it would require the next pathc be big enough to include the updated maps.

Unless some ambitious mapper wanted to make modifed versions of existing maps nad make them available for download....
