  • Couple of Quickie Things I'd Like to See

SMALL CHANGES I'D LIKE TO SEE

    1) I'd like to see it be possible for guards to pick mines with their "repair tools". It would be nice to have a way to get a mine back or re-position it without having to kill a thief to do it.

    2) I'd like to see the "FootSteps" arrows make footsteps sounds that resemble the sound of footsteps upon the surface that they land. Allow most people don't use these arrows yet, they'll be very popular with ghosting teams to get placed AI to move about.

    3) I'd like whistlers to be a little smaller so that thieves can jump over them when they are placed in doorways. It's a lame tactice to block a door with them, yet it happens.

    4) I'd like guards to be able to pick caltrops up so they can be repositioned. (they shouldn't be able to pick up if mossed, however)

    5) I'd like it if traps wouldn't disappear when a guard dies. If I die defending something it would be cool if my traps could finish the job. Heh.

    6) I'd like to see the BJ as something a thief buys while upping the loot for the thieves by 250. This is good for ghosters.

    7) I'd like to see repair tools as something a thief cannot pick up. Or if he does pick them up he makes a clanking sound when he runs. I don't think every single person on the guard team should have to buy tools just because thieves can steal them.

Anyways, dunno about how feasible or even fair some of those are. Just thoughts.

Taking these point by point here...

That makes a lot of sense.

I believe they already do that. They aren't much use against humans, currently, but I would like to see one change made to them: I'd like them not to make an impact sound when they hit a surface. This alerts in any any clueful humans (if the bow sound didn't) that it's an arrow and not a thief.

I'm fine with the size they are a bit smaller, however, I'd like thieves to be able to move whistlers without first disabling them. This would remove a lot of the lame tactics involving them, and make the guards think a bit more about placing them.

        This also makes sense.

The reason they don't is so that guards don't place lots of traps and then kill themselves to get more. One thing I do sometimes is once I die, if a thief is running near my traps, I won't respawn for a while so the traps stay and possibly hurt him. Once he's gone I'll respawn.

Agreed, but I'd say make it 200. Or perhaps even an option to sell the blackjack for 200 so non-ghosters don't forget to buy it.

Here, I disagree. And I'm guessing this is in response to the trick I pulled on Aquatone last night. ^_^ As long as guards can pick up thief potions, lockpicks, and all that other stuff, I think thieves should be able to pick up repair tools. If the guards leave them lying around unguarded, they can't expect them to stay there. Perhaps the guards could start hiding them and solve the problem that way? Or, have the chest and tools near where there are guards. Last night this wasn't possible because it was just you guarding, but it most rounds that won't be the case.

Sounds good, but how about just being able to pick them up again?

I think they do. Don't they?

I think they should just be pushable.

            Would be nice.

Not going to happen. Traps would pile up like a bitch.

            6) I'd like to see the BJ as something a thief buys while upping the loot for the thieves by 250. This is good for ghosters.
Why? If you don't want to use it, don't use it. And starting loot is already balanced for both teams. Guards need a melee weapon, leaving them at 600 or 550.

            7) I'd like to see repair tools as something a thief cannot pick up. Or if he does pick them up he makes a clanking sound when he runs. I don't think every single person on the guard team should have to buy tools just because thieves can steal them.
Then use teamwork. Thieves thieve. Thats the point.

              Neo:

As far as mines are concerned what I mean is that the repair tools could be used to take control of the mine AFTER a thief has picked it and placed it.

I do like your idea for a whislter to me "pushable".

I was going to reply point by point, but DarkBill already responded exactly as I would have to each point. Just put me down as a "ditto" to his reply. But with a bit more enthusiasm to the positive response to Point 1. Guards can carry and drop mines, there's no reason they wouldn't be able to disarm their own ordinance.

I miss the days when guards could detonate mines. And I wish that caltrops were trampled to bits by guards who run over them. However, I've always been of the realism>gameplay school...

Yes, but there's a forum specifically for suggestions. I'm not sure, just guessing, but I'd bet your chances of having a suggestion taken seriously are greater if you post it there.

I'm not really sure, but I'd also guess it would limit the discussion significantly as well. I doubt most people read the Suggestions forum as often as they read this one, if they read it at all.

I have to agree with LR on this one Bill.
If I post it in the suggestions forum then people interested in improving (or commenting on ideas) will read it while those who just want to troll will likely not.

I was just making a point, I wasn't saying that it shouldn't be in the Suggestions forum. ^_^
