  • Suggestion for mines.

    Make them go invisible in the dark, like corpses and moss patches.
    This would help the mine to fit more in it's original intention, namely a trap.

    As it is now, mines are hugely underpowered. They are weak, destroy your own equipment, can be sabotaged and generally only work well in conjunction with other traps like caltrops or whistlers... and they cost more than caltrops too, whilst caltrops are far more effective in stopping thieves.

    Shouldn't be to much coding, and this could also prevent rushing, since thieves now really have to watch their step.

    Yeah, I think if mines worked more like corpses they'd be much more useful. They should disappear unless you frob over them, just like bodies. As is, they're a bit too easy for thieves to take out and they're so weak they shouldn't be that easy.

      Hmm, I forgot to think of the fact that guards might forget where they put them, since they can't see them so well.

      As a sollution to this, mines could have a small (led?) light on them, which shows to guards (or thieves, whatever team has placed them) even when they are invisible.

          either cloakable mines or a bigger explosion... so that thieves mines would be a REAL issue for guards.

          Or nastier... napalm traps. Mines would tag thieves the way a firebolt does... less instant damage , but even more effective in a guard defense point.

            A LOT more things need to be affected by the darkness engine.

            Anyway... mines need damage increased, but I kind of like the "napalm" idea.

                How 'bout spyder mines?

                If a thief (or a guard) Steps of that mine, he will be stuck in some webs (Paralyzed) just like the caltrops (Only in a better version )

                That was my idea...

                    Cals are not invisible just not as noticable.... mines stick out too much, give them a camo effect.

                      I don't think mines should be totally invisible, that would just be lame. 20-30% at the most...

                        Actually, hiding mines isn't that hard... some of the levels have rugs that use the exact same colors as the mine, drop one there and its hard to see even if you are looking for it.
                        It's not my fault everything you like is terrible.

                          There are even places where you can drop a mine or two in TOTAL darkness, where they can't be seen at all, right LeatherMan?

                            Mines:

                            1) Have them be a 1 shot kill on thieves.

                            2) Have them do 50% damage AND bust all potions on target.

                            3) Have them do 50% damage and blind victim for 10 seconds.

                            Just ideas.
                            Not really warm to the idea of a one shot kill, but they are kinda lame for what they cost right now.

                              Either of those would be too broken, Gerb. And even worse given that half of the time they are disabled and nicely handed back to you.

                              I think mines need something done with their visuals, they are too easy to notice, but i also think total invisibility would be too easy. That 30% visible only sounds good to me.
