Shadow-Slashing Fix

Shadow-slashing, the bane of ghosters everywhere.
perhaps an imprvement would be, to gradually weaken a weapon to do less damage, up to the point of breaking, every time it is used against a target that is not a thief, (say a wall, or a pole)

What about shadows that don't have walls or poles in them? Nice idea, not completely infallible.

I think the Stamina counter would give a balanced solution (no impact on guard defense against circlestrafing ect. just preventing spam) where both guards and thieves have to strike at the right time (let's say , thief can't swing BJ much , guard can swing mace like 5 times then has to halt a second , or sword 10 times)

There's always my good 'ol collateral damage idea. Rather than dig that dinosaur up, I'll summarize: Guards lose points for attacking structures in the level, to refelect how $(*&ing pissed the lord of the manor would be to find mace-sized holes in the doors, sword slashes on the walls, and the occasional flaming work of art.
I also really like the stamina idea.

I honestly don't consider shadow slashing to be a problem. Remember in thief when the guards got close to you they 'saw' you and proceeded to kill you? You can bump into a thief and still not see him in thievery, and sometimes when you have no flares you have to have some way of checking suspicious shadows. If thieves are so afraid of shadow slashing then get out of the bloody way I ghost all the time and I don't have a problem with shadow slashing. I really don't think this needs any kind of 'fixing' or 'sulotion'. If I was a guard and knew there ws a possibility there was a thief in a shadow that I couldn't see hell yeah I'd be swinging a mace around in there. Its kinda like holding your arms out in front of you when you can't see.
