    Ok, for this to work you must go and play the original Thief, find some water and dive into it from a great hight.

    Go on.....








    ...Ok, what do you notice?

    When you dive into the water you sink really low into it, the momentum carries you down to a believable depth! And if the water you leap into is too shallow then you hurt yourself/die.

    I like this feature of the Thief engine, IMO it's better than being able to dive into a body of water and only go under a few inches.

    Would this be difficult to implement in unreal engine?

    Would people like it IF it was implemented?

    Oh, there are so many things I would like to see implemented from thief into TUT.

    Water features is one of them. I hope it will be implemented.

        Me too, I only brought the up because i watched my bro the other day playing the original thiefs, I'd forgotten the pure quality of the game.

        Although one thing i must say...

        the devs did a MUCH better job of mounting object! (ERGH! ANOTHER UNINTENDED SUCIDE DUE TO MISSING THAT LEDGE!)

          "Too shallow" meaning less than 3 feet. If you end a 2000 foot drop in 3 feet of water you will be completely unharmed. The same drop in 2.99 feet of water will kill you.
          But yes, it's good in general. And yes, TUT mantling is much better than Thief's.

              Ah, yes. More limitations of the Unreal Engine. Most likely would mean we would have to use different zoneinfo's for the water zones, but if it works, who cares

                I think we would just have to reverse the gravity in water areas. So when you jump in a pool, you'll sink first (like when you jump), but then you start floating (falling back to the ground).

                The harder you'd fall into the water, the deeper you'd "jump" towards the bottom.


                Then the only thing that'd have to be implemented is to take damage when you hit objects at a certain speed instead of height.

                      Auto-duck when mantling...yes, please! Its annoying when trying to get through a small hole, and you end up just jumping up and down hard instead of climbing in.
