i'm tired so this is going to be brief.. how about a garrote wire (sp?) that does no damage whatsoever from the front but from the back and on the head, a 1 shot kill that has a soft gurgling sound (the dying guard).. I'm thinking this would be a buy-only weapon, but it would be crazy to implement.. *passes out*

Never said it was a good idea, but I am now (I have actually brought it up before in another thread). I kinda like it. I also didn't say it was silent. Would make less noise than a broadhead, sounding kind of like a poof. But then, once the poof was heard, it would be too late. For this to work, the dart would have hit on the neck of a guard that wasn't wearing a helmet, be it front or back.

              Who said anything about darts?

Garotte equals piano wire... except it has a bit more range. A thin rope with a noose innit.

I like the idea, but it'd be heck to implement.

Ok, so... With garotte, you could:
-Attack someone from behind and strangle him to death
              -Attack someone from above... mwahhahhaa!

              With garotte, the problems are:
              -Helmet covers the neck too?
-The guard can slash the rope if he's lucky
-If you miss, the guard can pull the rope and you'll fall down from the rafters

-Maybe you could use it only once per guard, but it'd be relatively cheap so you can buy several. 30-40 gp?

              and...

              THINK ABOUT THIEFMATCH OMG ROOFLES!!!1

I say fuck cheesewire and include a Barrett M-82A1 sniper rifle. Oh, and an MP5 of some description too. They're vital to any mod

If you could string wire between two bits of geometry, then... it could be updated to a near-future game world with corrupt police and evil corporations that employ stupid AI to run through lengths of cheesewire.

Sorry, but I honestly didn't know that that is what a Garotte is.

Well... apparently the thing I described isn't a garotte, either.

After a certain post in General Discussions and afterwards referring to Ill Met In Lankhmar (Volume 1, "Thieves' House" and "Claws from the Night"), I must admit my mistake.

I believe garotte equals piano/fibre-wire. Dictionary.com offers a spanish iron collar for you inquisitive types, but for us brutes it simply tells it's...

                      1. Strangulation, especially in order to rob.
                      2. A cord or wire used for strangling.

The thing I described and want in the game is a strangler's noose (as described by vivid storytelling of Fritz Leiber).
