  • Need mappers to help me with my tutorial map

    I've made a tutorial map for thievery, but have some problems with scripts, events, etc (Problems that

    cannot solved with the mapping guide).

      I've been known as a general and all-around A$$, but i'd love to help in any way i can.

      A tip to get you started: when working on the text displayed when explaining (ie: "good! you've collected some loot!. now to move on to the weapons...") use a eventtrigger so that when the item is frobbed, etc. a triggerbool sets of a text trigger. I don't know exactly how this works... but try it!

        The door problem = THDOOR not movers...

        The boat problem = What boat???

        The Blue light problem = What do you exactly want with it??? Hit the blue light? Try and make a thievery torch blue...

              that's a spaceship. not a boat. YES! the rowboat!

              make ait a normal mover and set it to playerbump activate, and give it a path.

              for bugs: *deep dreath*
              1) what is stro-pijl? don't you mean catfall?
              2) supply a catfall ( and a direction to jump) for the drop tutorials.
              3) spelling errors
              . -lockpick tutorial( the word "wich")
              . -doven the torches with water arows? do you mean douse?
              . -check the arrow tutorial (the one ith the bookcases) many misspellings
              . -"always anothers way" at end dummy
              . -area with cross :fine arrow?
              4) lower fron rampart: a missing torch in the sconce.
              5) not all hte dummies are translucent
              6)at the beggining there is an invisible staircase along the left wall: is that supposed ot be there?
              7)"towards the body to light it" um...what body?
              8) room with mirror floor: strange elevator texture

              I don't know haw many of these you know of, or have fixed already, but please look into them.

              again, as said to you on other threads, i'm just trying to give some friendly contructive criticism. terribly sorry if i sound mean or condecending.. just trying to help!

                  Thanks for the feedback (i really needed that )

                  I made the tutorial for the especially for the thiefs,..but a guard tutorial is coming soon.
                  The other items/weapons/things for the thief will be explained in the practice mission.

                  Because i cant get things move, so i cant add doors or moving things to the tutorial. I having also problems to texture these moving things.
                  So, can somebody download my tut and fix these problems ???
                  (i read all the tutorials i can get, but none of them can't help me).

                  The none-englisch words and lines you saw in the tutorial and readme are my comments.
                  The odd words/lines:
                  "doven the torches" -> extinguish the torches
                  "stro-pijl" -> a straw arrow (or in thievery: the catfall arrow)
                  I won't delete these words in the tutorial
                  They a my comments and the tutorial is still beta, you know .
                  But i will change some words in the readme.
                  about the spelling errors, i've found a great online translating site.... .

                  question: How can put some arrows in the level, so you don't have to buy these things?

                  I'm sorry, it's have been a long time I updated these maps, 'cause i've been trying to finish a game, i bought this last week,......Thief 2: The metal Age !!!!!

                    Theese are 2 good sites... I'll send you an e-mail with a map that I'm working on (was working on )

                    It have some bugs but all the doors are fine...

                      to change a mover's texture:

                      right-click (don't go to porperties) scroll down to mover, click show polys. Then just treat it like everything else.

                          There is a new version of the tut but there are some problems at my provider.
                          So i cant upload my version.

                              Contact DarkProject. He wants to host everything. You could probably post "Hey, I have a virulent, fatal disease I need hosted, anyone interested?" and he'd volunteer.
